![]() ![]() ![]() Over the course of this week, I reached out to higher ed colleagues across the country for advice and best practices on online learning. Through my students, I learned that even if they aren’t the strongest in the online learning world, they can still succeed. The decisions they’re making are not done lightly.įor over 5 years, I’ve taught both online and hybrid courses at two different community colleges. My many years as a College Administrator, before coming to TargetX, provided me insight to questions institutions were beginning to consider – knowing the impact it would have on students and staff. They will be the ones to set the bar for others to follow.As an adjunct professor, as news of the coronavirus (COVID-19) began to hit the United States over the last few weeks, I kept thinking, “Colleges and Universities are going to have to make some important decisions.” As March started, news of institutions developing emergency plans were being announced and within days, some colleges and universities began to close, some temporarily, some ending their entire semester, and a majority shifting from traditional face-to-face classes to digital education. There will never be another first kill, dig, block, assist or serve. They have a chance to be first at many things there. "I told the ladies it is an exciting opportunity. Maness added that Columbus State's inaugural season will be special for his two players. She will be ready to go come August of next year." She has been working hard, and is ahead of the game with her rehab. "Cheyenne experienced a setback this season with an injury," Maness said, "but still maintained the character that we expect of all our athletes. ![]() "It's going to help me the rest of my life, and the many years to go playing volleyball. "Coach Maness has definitely taught me a lot," said Swenson. "She has led on the floor with her consistent offensive presence that has earned her many honors." "Katie Poole has been a tremendous asset to our program as a player and as a student," said Maness. And I just loved everybody there that I met. "(Columbus) Coach (Casey) Cornette was awesome when I met her. "It's been a great start here playing for Coach Maness for the past two years," said Poole. Any program and institution would be lucky to have them." Both are extremely explosive players that will get the inaugural Columbus State program off to a great start. "They have done a great job while at Paris and will continue to do so at Columbus State. "I am extremely proud of both ladies," said PJC Head Volleyball Coach Justin Maness. Katie Poole of Rowlett, Texas, and Cheyenne Swenson of Draper, Utah, will join the NCAA Division II team for its first season since 1982, when the volleyball was discontinued there after 17 years. Two Paris Junior College Dragons volleyball players have signed to continue their academic and athletic careers at Columbus State University in Columbus, Ga.
